On Feb. 11 the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee passed H.R. 4441, which calls for a new private ATC entity removed from congressional oversight. The committee passage concluded with a final vote to forward the legislation to the full House for consideration. The House of Representatives is in recess this week and consequently many members are in their home state and district. If possible, it is an excellent time for NBAA members to make their concerns known about this legislation.
Please contact your representative about this legislation that will probably be facing that representative when they return next week after the recess. In some cases your representative may be holding a "town hall" meeting in your area during this week, which could be an opportunity to address the concerns. Another effective avenue can be to call the local office of the representative. Contact and district information for representatives can be found on the website: www.house.gov. Calls receive attention by the local staff, which need to report constituent inquiries to the DC staff. These calls highlight the issue to the staff and create a need for understanding in their response.
