Please place any needs that the KCBAA community could help out with as well as any resources that could be offered to help in this time of need.  Thanks!

A local entrepreneurial group equipped with over 100 3D Printers has been manufacturing medically approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) face masks.  Their run of several thousand was distributed at no cost to local KC hospitals including KU and Children's Mercy but more is needed.  Recently the necessary raw materials (i.e., plastic for headbands, clear plastic sheets for the face shields, chemicals for sterilization, necessary packing materials for shipment, etc.) have become in short supply due to national demand.  I spoke directly to one of their directors and he is very intrigued by the KCBAA helping in any form or another.  Areas of immediate need range from donations, raw material supplies and resources to assist in distribution.  They were very interested in that we might be able to marshal our local air force for potential point to point distribution to hot spots or picking up materials direct from manufactures so they can more rapidly meet the huge demand.

Just heard back from the PPE manufacturing group.  They currently have funding for 10,000 masks but they are still having trouble securing supplies.  One major need is for disinfectant which is primarily 75% or better isopropyl alcohol.  Anybody know where a supply of isopropyl alcohol might be secured?

Hello. My name is David Herrera and I am Vice Director of PPE for KC. We exist to coordinate Makers in Kansas City and the surrounding metro. We are working to print and provide PPE for medical professionals. We are a Voluntary association and not a non-profit organization. We do NOT get paid for our efforts and do NOT charge for the equipment we are providing. We operate using personal funds and donations provided by the public. We are a well organized group of professionals and small business owners working to make sure the nurses and doctors in our community get what they need to stay safe. We have a board of 7 volunteers dedicated to this single goal. The real need we currently have is isopropyl alcohol 75% or better. Because of the current supply chain issues, this is something we are having a hard time procuring. This is the chemical we are using to sanitize the shields before we make kits and send them to the hospitals. If you have any available, feel free to reach out to me directly at 913-636-6610.

Our facebook group can be found at: We are still accepting donations through our gofundme, that can be found at: After crunching some numbers we realized that we are still ~$2000 short on funding to finish out phase 2(a large portion of this will go to purchasing isopropyl alcohol). If you wish to see what we have achieved so far, you can view our current PPE demand and deliveries here:

Any help that can be provided through this network is very much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    David Herrera
Vice Director of PPE for KC
